Sometimes You Have To Make Permanent Decisions In Instant Moments

There have been moments my life, when maybe I had been putting myself in a situation I shouldn’t have been in, or had stayed too long in a place I should have long left, that will come to a head and I need to make a permanent decision in an instant moment. Those moments don’t seem too instant usually though because I typically know that they will come one day, because where I am is not where I am meant to be. There are times though, when things do pop up unexpectedly and a decision has to be made for our own health and safety. When those moments come up, if we don’t know ourselves, and what’s best for us, we could easily make the wrong decisions in those instant moments out of panic our uncertainty of what to do next.

When I was in my disease that moment came, it came on a night that was like any other night, but it wasn’t, for some reason, on that night, I got really scared, and I knew that I was at a crossroads, suddenly, and that if I didn’t make the right decision, my life could be over. Both of my choices were permanent decisions, just one was the right choice, the choice I did make, and the other was the path I had been on which would only lead to one ultimate end, my end. I don’t know why, on that particular night, I realized I had to make a choice in that moment, because I didn’t even really know what the solution to it was, but I instinctively knew that I had to surrender to the way I had to been living and let go of the belief that I had things under control and knew better. And maybe that was the only sound decision I was capable of making with the knowledge I had, that I didn’t have it under control and all I could do was surrender and ask for help. That act set forth the journey I am still on today. And, the path I plan to stay on.

We are presented with many crossroads in our lifetime. Those moments when we can choose what path to take, and most of the time we know which path we should be on, we don’t always take it, but we usually know the right way, or at least, the first step to get us on that right path. Much of having the right information when those instant moments arise is knowing ourselves, know who we are, what we want, and having a connection to something bigger than ourselves to help guide us to the place we’re meant to be. I didn’t know myself when I made that permanent decision that night, but something inside of me knew what the next right step was, to call and ask for help.

If you find yourself in a place you shouldn’t be in, or can’t stay in, or know is not the best place for you, think about what you can do to get out, look for those opportunities, people, moments when there may be some guidance coming through that is showing you where to go. Take the time to get to know yourself, to learn to love yourself and believe that you deserve better than what you have, or where you are, if that does not serve you. Seek out those people, those places, that allows you to be your best you, that celebrates your spirit, and who you are. And know, when those instant moments come up where you have to make a permanent decision that you have the information you need to make the right decision, a decision that could lead you to your destiny, of where you’re meant to be if you just take that chance. SLAY on!

SLAY OF THE DAY: Have there been times in your life that you’ve had to make a permanent decision in an instant moment? List one. What was the result? Where you prepared for it? Why had you left something so long that you were forced to make a decision instantly? Did you know prior to that moment that that same decisions should have been made? Looking back, where there signs that that instant moment was coming? What can you do differently today to make better decisions so you’re not forced to make major decisions instantly? Take a look at your life SLAYER, look at where you are, who you’re with, and if you are where you are supposed to be, if you’re not, look for those moments to make some permanent decisions to get your on the right path and on the road to making your dreams a reality.

An Ending Brings A New Beginning

We tend to hold onto things. We hold on to them, many times, far longer than we should. We cause ourselves unnecessary pain and heartache, when we should really just let go. We sometimes live in denial that something has ended, we try to live in the past, to conjure up memories or feelings and try to hold on to them when they can’t live in the present. We drag our heels and drag our hearts through the dirt as we try to live in a place that no longer exists. Let go. And not just let go, look at it as an opportunity for something new. A new beginning.

Now I realize that that may have just sent a shutter down your spine. But really, honestly, it’s a good thing. The act of letting go. And the realization that you should let go is a huge act of self-love. To not cause yourself pain by trying to keep yourself somewhere you no longer have no business being. By being responsible for your own pain for not letting go and moving on. Walking away when it’s time takes a long of love and a lot of courage, to know that, if you move on, that is actually a positive act, an act that demonstrates self-respect and one that shows you know your worth. And when it’s time to go and you take that action, it allows something else to come in, something, perhaps, better suited to who you are today, or what you’ve been looking for. When we stay where we are no longer meant to be, we block anything new from coming in because we are spending all of our energy trying to make it right in the wrong place. We make excuses, concessions to stay, and while we’re doing that we’re not seeing that perhaps what we’ve wished for, or wanted, all along, is right within our reach. Putting an end to something takes some faith, faith in yourself that you’re doing the right thing, and faith that whatever inner voice guides you, or outer voice, that there is a plan for you, that you are being guided to whom, or where, you are meant to be. And once you start to take that direction, all roads start to open up to help you get there. So many times we’re heard saying, “why is this so difficult?” Well, it may be difficult because we’re not mean to be there at all. So the question should be, “if this is so difficult, is there somewhere else I should be?” There may be a reason you’re finding things so difficult, the universe may be trying to tell you something.

An ending is really a chance for a new beginning. And perhaps a place that lets you be you, that lets you shine bright. We have to go through the things that aren’t right for us to find out what is. It’s all just part of our journey, our learning of who we are and what we want, so don’t look at it as a bad thing, look at it as information, and a way to lead you to where you should be, and where you are mean to be. Life is already full of obstacles, why put some extra ones in your own way by hanging on when you should go? Why not look at the end of something as a chance to try something new, you never know, that ending may have been set up just to lead you to the beginning of the life of your dreams…but you won’t know if you stay stuck right where you are. SLAY on!

SLAY OF THE DAY: Do you tend to hang on to situations or relationships even when you know you should move on? If so, why do you do that? Write down a time when you held on when you should have let go. How did that make you feel? Write down a time when you did let go. How did that make you feel? Which felt better? Within your life now, are there people, places and things that you should be letting go of or ending? What are they? Why are you hanging on? What do you think will happen if you let go? Are these feelings or concerns valid, or just fears? What are you afraid of? Are these fears based in fact, or are they tied to old stories and old ideas from your past? Look at your life SLAYER, and look at those things that you should end, end them, and don’t be afraid, when we let go of what we no longer want or need, we let the universe know we’re ready for what we do want and need, and we’re ready to turn an ending into a new beginning.

Don’t Leave Before The Miracle Happens

I almost did, well, I didn’t think I was worthy of any miracles, in fact it took a miracle, many in of them, to get me to this place I am right now. But, when I was in my darkness, I couldn’t see the light of anything that looked like a miracle, my thoughts told me there was nothing that  could save me from the hell I was in. I look back now and see how many miracles I’ve had, and I’m not any different from any of you, we’re all having them. The fact that we are here right now, that we’ve survived traumas in our past, that we’re still putting one foot in front of the other, and that we have all found each other is a miracle in itself. WE are miracles. We are! I’m talking to you SLAYER, you are a miracle.

No matter what we have set out to do, there will always be obstacles, life doesn’t get out of the way for us just because we’ve decided to live in the light, life goes on, on it’s own terms, doing what life does, and sometimes life gets dark, difficult, and seemingly out of control, and we may tell ourselves that that’s it, we can’t take it anymore, can’t do it, we’re out, but don’t, don’t leave, don’t get out, muster all of your strength to keep going, even if it’s just one inch, one second, one tiny bit forward at a time. You know why? The miracle is coming. I know because it’s happened to me and many people in my life. And, when it does come, still continue walking in the light, still keep working because sometimes the miracle isn’t even the big miracle that may be coming after! Stay on your path.

Having faith plays a big part in not giving up. For me, I connect with a power greater than myself, my HP, that helps, and when I do that I am reminded of all of the miracles that have come before, the good, the times I thought I might give up and then something happened, out of the blue to change my mind, or make things better, or just give me perspective, maybe even hope. When we hook into our spirituality, whatever that is for you, whatever grounds you, makes you feel safe, we are constantly shown the way, we are guided, we get signs, and it can be hard when we’re our darkness to reach out, to try to connect, but that’s when we have to dig in and do it! Find a way. For me, a lot of times, it happens when I’m in nature, walking or hiking alone, I find clarity there, even just sitting by the ocean and listening to the waves and birds, my mind opens up, but it’s different for us all, it can come through us in writing, music, books, friends, animals, anything, find your way and the way that speaks to you.

It’s also making an effort to keep our thoughts in the light, in the good, even when we feel like our light has dimmed, keep your mind on that light inside, remember when things have turned around, gotten better, gotten brighter, and fight for the light. Fight for the light.

When I started on this path, and had very little light in me, I made the decision to do what was suggested, to do the work, no matter how crappy it sounded, or stupid, to just do it, I gave myself three months and told myself that if I didn’t feel any better I’m going to stick with my original plan and take my own life, and after working on myself every day for three months, doing everything that was suggested and celebrating that milestone, I remember looking out to the world that used to look so dark, awful, and disappointing and I thought, I don’t want to die anymore, that was my first miracle on this journey, and there have been many more since. Don’t leave before yours happens.

All of this takes work on our part, and I know you might be thinking, I’m exhausted I can’t do anything more, you can, focus your energy on staying on your path and knowing it will get better, we’re all on there with you. Trust me, if you stay, and you do the work you need to do to move forward in a positive and healthy way, the miracle will happen, I can’t tell you when, but it will happen, and when it does, that’s not the time to slack off because it might not even be the big miracle that’s waiting for you.

SLAY OF THE DAY: Can you list any miracles that have happened in your life? Do you believe that if you continue to live our life in the light, doing the work to better yourself and your life that miracles are waiting for you? If not, why? Write down something you would like to see happen for you as a result of your work, fold it up, put it in your pocket, purse, wallet, take it with you on your journey, keep doing the work, and see if it comes true. SLAY on.
