We all have dreams. Things we would like to accomplish, see for ourselves, a life that we may not currently have, perhaps with someone else, or personal goals. And where we are now shouldn’t limit the dreams that you have and what you can accomplish. Many times in my life I have had a dream or a goal and haven’t a clue how to go about accomplishing all of it from beginning to end, but trust that when I put my intention forward and do the footwork the rest of the steps will come. I also have a strong belief that as I am doing the work and share my dream or goals with others that the right people will be put into my life to help me accomplish what I’ve set out to do, I have that faith because it’s happened many times. Where we find ourselves today does not dictate where we can go tomorrow.
Before walking this path, I talked myself out of my dreams. I thought I wasn’t good enough or smart enough to get to the places I wanted to go. I was constantly plagued with negative thinking that talked me out of starting before I even began. And, if I did manage to start, at the first sign of resistance I backed off and stayed right where I was. I wasn’t happy where I was, but I couldn’t get past my own self-sabotage to move on from that place. I made a lot of excuses why I couldn’t get or go after what I wanted instead of just starting anyway and doing the best I could, trusting that I was enough and had what it would take to see my dreams realized. When I found the courage to reach out for help and stop the negative cycle I had been in, that was the first time in a long time I reached for a new goal to better myself and my situation. As I began to feel better and learned to love myself, I started to discover new things that I was interested in and a new confidence to go and explore those things. I began to trust that I was being directed to the things and people I was meant to, that if I had faith in that direction, I could accomplish almost anything. And I did! I kept saying yes to new things and new people in my life and I set new goals and found new dreams to pursue. Following this new path of trust, faith and old-fashioned work. I was told, when that old thinking would creep in, not to worry about the things I didn’t have or couldn’t control to start, the important thing was just to start and the rest would come, or, it wouldn’t, but I may be led to another path I hadn’t known about before, that’s where the trust came in.
I have accomplished many things, and many I hadn’t even dreamed of years ago when I was getting in the way of my own dreams. My life today is a result of all of that work I had done, on myself, and the pursuit of my dreams, and I still continue to work and build on what I have today. Where we are today is not where we’ll stay unless we allow ourselves to, our only obstacle is ourselves, the other ones we may find along the way can either be beat, or are there to direct us to a place we are meant to be. Let your heart guide you to where you are meant to be, and if you dream it and believe it, you can make it happen. SLAY on!
SLAY OF THE DAY: Do you allow yourself to downgrade your dreams based on your current situation? Why do you do that? Do you reach for dreams or goals that will get you out of your current situation? How do you do that? What is the result? What more can you do to go after your dreams? What concerns do you have in doing so? What can you do to overcome them? Do you tell others of your dreams? If not, why not? There is always a reason we dream or want to reach a goal, instead of questioning it just go after it, even if you don’t know how to go about it, take the first step you do know and ask for help, you may find yourself on your journey to your dreams.
